Controversies
Two-Year Suspension by USADA
Hamdy Abdelwahab has been given a two-year suspension by USADA due to violations of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy. This suspension will last until the summer of 2024. The suspension comes after Abdelwahab tested positive for the anabolic agent methenolone and its metabolite in two separate drug screenings in 2022 before his UFC debut. The first positive test was an in-competition sample taken on July 30, and the second was an out-of-competition sample taken on August 27. These two instances were treated as a single violation because Abdelwahab was unaware of his initial failed test during the second sample collection. Additionally, he also received a tampering violation for not disclosing his use of banned substances when he joined the UFC Anti-Doping Program after signing with the UFC. The two-year suspension for Abdelwahab is retroactive to July 30, 2022, and will conclude on July 30, 2024.
